But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness. (1 John 1:9 NLT)
Thank God that when we sin He does not disown us, but makes a way for our fellowship with Him to be restored. To "confess our sins" is to agree with Him about our sins and not make excuses for them. You don't have to live with the guilt of your past failures because He is ready "to forgive" and "to cleanse [you] from all wickedness."
